Now onto other news :

We will be hosting our Winter 2011 and Summer 2011/12 trophy night at the club house 146 Denham St, Bracken Ridge this year. We have decided to move it back to the club as last years event at Brighton bowls club was disappointing, although a great location, we need good numbers to turn up to make it worth while.

Where : Bracken Ridge DCC Club rooms Denham St

When : 31st March 2012

Time : start 6.30PM

As usual there will be food supplied, and discounted drinks, a cost (if any) for entry will need to be confirmed.

We also plan to host the Dave Cromb Memorial 20/20 during the afternoon of the 31st of March. I am now accepting nominations to play in the match.

We have a large shield to present to the winner of the match, the teams which will be selected from the nominated names out of a hat – to avoid a side full of A graders will play as the Presidents XI and the Secretaries XI

We will have an official umpire on the day, but remember it is a game played to signify the remembrance of the Late Dave Cromb.

Please let me know (James) if you are interested in playing. Please note if you nominate, you are expected to show up, please let me know with enough notice if you cannot play. This will avoid sides being short a player or two.

Also a quick reminder some members still owe membership fee’s and match fee’s. If you could pay these ASAP it would be GREATLY appreciated.

BRDCC is going to turn pink!

As I’m sure everyone is aware, the Jane McGrath foundation has held fundraising over the past several years including the now infamous ‘pink’ Sydney test.
Now with the help of the Jane McGrath foundation, they are helping turn Australian cricket clubs turn pink for Pink stumps day on the 18th February 2012.

This is from the website :

“The magic of the Sydney Pink Test during the summer is set to land on our cricket pitch for our very own Pink Stumps Day on Saturday 18 February 2012 – and we’re doing our bit to make a difference, helping the McGrath Foundation reach their $1 million fundraising goal. “

For the day we will need volunteers to help us fundraise, our target is $250. Lets beat that and raise money for a great cause.

For supporting this cause we get a set of Pink Vodafone stumps and pink team kit to wear on the day.  Help us support the day. We encourage you to come down and enjoy the day and make sure you wear PINK!!!

You can help us right away, just go to this page :

Ho! Ho! Ho!

Season underway

Well the season of 2011/12 has begun with our three sides having narrow defeats. A1 had some positives with skipper Sean Okamura scoring 50 and Kieran Kellaway unlucky to get out on 49. B Grade did not have much luck throughout the game playing 2 short the first week which cost valuable runs in the field, Keane White making an excellent 50 in the second dig and Brian Maguire taking 5 wickets. C2 had a few highlights with Ryan Genninges making an unbeaten 89, C2′s opposition featured former Brisbane Lions AFL player Alastair Lynch, who by all accounts is quite the handy cricketer!!

Good luck to the teams for the rest of the season, lets see if we can bring another premiership home this season.

New Season about to begin

Hello members and other readers of our site.

The summer season kicks off in a little less than a weeks time on saturday 17th September.

This summer see’s BRDCC fielding three senior sides down from five of the last few years. A combination of players moving away, starting families or new jobs means we’ve lost around 20 players from last season. We will be fielding A1, B2 and C2 this season. A1 will be looking to gain back the premiership they missed out on defending last year due to results and bad weather. B2 made up of a majority of B4 and A3/C2 last year will again look at being competitive, the C2 side mostly juniors with Sheriff and Rissole at the helm will look to defend the premiership of last year.

We will still welcome any players who want to play, don’t be shy to come down to McPherson Park and say G’day.

TRAINING

Another note is that Training will be Thursday nights from 6.30pm. PLEASE don’t forget and make it if you can. The past couple of years training numbers have been very poor. If numbers continue to be poor training will only be held on a week by week decision.

Enjoy the season!

Sign on days

2011 sign on this year is the 27th august and 3rd September 9-12pm juniors and seniors. See you all there!
